As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him. And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.” John 17:2-4
Sometimes it appears as if a powerfully selective theme of the Gospel message is not highlighted as much as others. That theme is the fact that man was created and placed upon the earth to subdue it, have dominion over it, and through the exercise of that dominion, demonstrate the power of the creator: Jesus Christ. We are vessels of His life, recipients of His life, and we are called to demonstrate that life in the earth. We are called to house and manifest the life of God in the earth. That’s why “life” is more than mere existence and walking and breathing. It is a connected existence which fuels us with the energy, vitality and the eternal spiritual life-force of God Himself. In this text you will explore that this life is a spiritual connection with God through His Spirit. It is not merely existence; but it is being filled with the goodness and fruitfulness of God Himself.
